Since 2001, Randall &Sonnier hosts an annual holiday party for children involved in the judicial foster care system and their families. At the party, the children have a day filled with fun activities, food, and each child receives at least one (1) gift for the holiday season. R&S has been successful in receiving contributions from the Baltimore Orioles, Baltimore Ravens, Cal Ripken Foundation, Washington Redskins, Washington Wizards, Washington Mystics, University of Maryland basketball team, Morgan State University, WWE, 92Q radio station, DNS Technology, Set the Captives Free Outreach Center and other local churches, masters, judges, attorneys, law firms, and numerous local businesses.

In May 2007, the partners of R&S formed A Step Closer Foundation, Inc., which is a 501(c)(3) non-profit devoted to bringing foster children a step closer to their destiny by advancing their special talents, gifts and interest. For more information on A Step Closer Foundation, please visit www.astepcloser.org. Numerous initiatives have been implemented including the Trash Bags to Travel Bag initiative where children in foster care are provided with travel bags, so the children don’t have to travel with their belongings in trash bags. The Maryland State Bar Association recognized A Step Closer Foundation and the partners of R&S in a segment titled “Beyond the Bar.” Click here to view the video segment. In 2011, A Step Closer held their 1st Talent and Award Ceremony. At this event, five talented foster youth had an opportunity to showcase their individual talents. Additionally, 4 individuals and 1 organization were honored for the contributions they have made to improve the lives of children in foster care. Visit www.astepcloser.org for more information.

Since 2007, R&S has co-sponsored a Resource Fair with the Circuit Court for Baltimore City Juvenile Division. The Resource Fair provides countless community resources, free lunch, and activities for families of children and youth. In addition, the partners of Randall &Sonnier were instrumental in implementing a Children’s Technology Room in the Circuit Court for Baltimore City Juvenile Court in 2009.

The firm has also participated in several community projects including a "Bowl-A-Thon" and “Night Golf Tournaments” which helped to raise money for young adults who are in foster care. The partners also lecture at workshops and seminars that provide education and awareness on Child Welfare Laws, Family Law, Wills, Starting Your Own Business, and on other general legal topics. The firms' partners work with local schools and provide paid internships for high school students.

The firm has also sponsored the Liberty Road Recreation and Parks Council Basketball League since 2007 and various other youth organizations. The staff and partners have also participated in various Career Day programs.

Additionally, the firm is an official sponsor of the She Matters & He Matters Youth Empowerment Programs. Through these programs, countless young girls and boys receive enrichment and are educated with the tools necessary to succeed in life. For more information on each program, visit www.shematterstoo.com and www.hematters.net.

The firm spends immeasurable hours advocating for the enrichment and promotion of all children.

The partners of R&S are the hosts of The Lawyers Who Care Radio Broadcast which airs the 3rd and 4th Thursday of each month at 10:00 am on WOLB 1010. Through this broadcast, listeners are educated on relevant legal and community issues.
